52 Sundays of REWILDING in 2021
Field Notes from Jess ~ Sunday 6/52 weekend in review:
This was a challenging week. On Saturday late afternoon I put on my biggest pair of hoop earrings (to increase personal badassary), laced up the trail boots, secured my knife on my belt and grabbed this beautiful foraging basket that I made from a fallen cedar tree.
I set out into the woods to spend some time alone and in communion with the forest. It was raining but it felt fresh and made the trail seem extra quiet. Our dense tree canopy here in Washington state offers a lovely natural covering so I didn’t wear my rain gear.
I was hoping to find some cottonwood trees to see if I could forage some of the fallen buds to make a healing oil, but no luck.
I did find peace in the magic hour as I found my way back to my truck well after dark. Happy to report that nature bathing works. My perspective has broadened and my nervous system has settled.
That space alone, held by the energy of the wild, creates a natural reprieve...a sanctuary to re-set. This is rewilding...
