Wildkind Outdoors Privacy Policy

Effective: September 9, 2026
Last updated: October 6, 2026

Applies to: wildkindoutdoors.com, our membership portal, online courses and educational content, workshops, trainings, retreats, camps, coaching programs, events, and other in-person and virtual programs and services offered by Wildkind Outdoors.

Wildkind Outdoors provides holistic survival training, outdoor and wilderness education, resilience and leadership development, and experiences designed to cultivate greater connection, capability, well-being, and ALIVENESS. Our offerings range from practical wilderness and preparedness skills to holistic health and personal development, leadership coaching, retreats, online courses, membership programs, and immersive experiences in the field.

Some of our work takes place online, and some takes place in wild places, classrooms, retreat settings, and other in-person environments. In the course of providing these experiences, we may collect information through our website and online platforms as well as through program registrations, communications, participant forms, waivers, health and safety information, photos and video taken at programs, and other interactions with Wildkind Outdoors.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how and why we use it, how we protect and retain it, when it may be shared with service providers, and the choices and rights you may have regarding your personal information.

1. Who we are

Wildkind Outdoors ("Wildkind," "we," "us," or "our") operates wildkindoutdoors.com and provides holistic survival and wilderness skills training, outdoor education, resilience and leadership development, holistic health and ALIVENESS programs, coaching, online courses, membership programs, workshops, retreats, camps, and other in-person and virtual educational experiences and services.

For this policy, the entity responsible for your information is Wildkind Outdoors LLC, located at PO Box 898, Tenino, Washington, 98589. This policy is governed by the laws of the State of Washington.

2. Information we collect

We collect different information depending on how you interact with us. We don't collect more than we need for the purpose at hand.

Category What it includes Why we have it
Contact information Name, email address, and where you provide it, phone number and mailing address To send you what you signed up for and to respond when you contact us
Purchase information What you bought, when, and the billing details you enter at checkout To deliver your purchase, provide receipts, and handle support and refunds
Program registration Your name, emergency contacts, signed waivers, and the health and dietary information described in Section 7 To run our in-person programs safely
Photos and video Images and recordings of you taken at in-person programs, as described in Section 8 To show what our programs are like, in our marketing and educational content
Usage information Pages visited, time on site, referring links, approximate location from IP address, and device and browser type To understand which content is useful and to fix what's broken
Communications Emails and messages you send us, and whether you opened or clicked our emails To answer you and to stop sending mail people don't read

We do not collect Social Security numbers, government ID numbers, or precise GPS location through this website.

3. How we collect it

You give it to us. When you subscribe to our email list, buy a course or product, register for a program, sign a waiver, or write to us.

It's collected automatically as you browse. Through cookies and analytics, described in Section 4.

We capture it at in-person programs. Photos and video taken during workshops, trainings, retreats, camps, and events, described in Section 8.

Our service providers collect it on our behalf. Our website platform and payment processor collect certain information as part of running the site and processing transactions. These providers are listed in Section 6.

4. Cookies and analytics

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. We use them for a few specific purposes.

Essential cookies

Set by our website platform to keep the site working — remembering your cart, keeping you logged in, and securing forms against abuse. The site does not function properly without these.

Analytics cookies

We use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use the site: which pages get read, which links get clicked, where visitors arrive from. Google Analytics sets cookies and receives your IP address and information about your device and browsing.

We use this to make editorial and design decisions, not to build profiles of individuals. We have not enabled Google Analytics advertising features, and we do not use this data for ad targeting.

You can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites by installing Google's opt-out browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Affiliate cookies

Some links on our Gear page are affiliate links, which set cookies belonging to the retailer. See Section 10.

Managing cookies yourself

Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies in its settings. Blocking all cookies will break parts of this site, including checkout.

Our site does not currently respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals, because there is no common standard for how sites should interpret them.

5. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Deliver the courses, products, and programs you signed up for
  • Run in-person programs safely, including responding to a medical emergency in the field
  • Send you emails you've asked for, and let you stop receiving them
  • Show what our programs are like, using photos and video from in-person programs where you've permitted us (Section 8)
  • Answer your questions and provide support
  • Understand how the site is used so we can improve it
  • Keep records we're required to keep, and enforce our terms
  • Protect against fraud, abuse, and security threats

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

6. When we share information

We share information in four situations, and no others.

With service providers and contractors who help us operate

These companies and individuals process information on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes:

  • Kajabi — hosts our website, stores our email list and customer records, and delivers our online courses
  • Our payment processor — handles checkout and card processing. Card numbers go directly to the processor; we never see or store them
  • Google Analytics — provides the website analytics described in Section 4
  • Independent contractors — a small number of people who support our marketing, website maintenance, and bookkeeping, and who may access our customer records only as needed to do that work. Section 12 describes how that access is controlled

When the law requires it

If we receive a valid legal request, or where disclosure is necessary to protect someone's safety or our legal rights.

In a medical emergency

During an in-person program, we may share a participant's health and emergency contact information with emergency responders or medical providers. Section 7 explains this in full.

If the business changes hands

If Wildkind Outdoors is sold, merged, or reorganized, participant and customer information may transfer as part of that. We would notify you before your information became subject to a different privacy policy.

7. Program health and emergency information

Our in-person programs take place in remote settings where help can be far away. To run them responsibly, we ask registrants for emergency contacts, relevant medical conditions, medications, allergies, and dietary needs.

We treat this information differently from everything else we collect:

  • It is used only for participant safety — never for marketing, and never to make decisions about anything other than how to keep someone safe in the field
  • It is available only to the instructors and staff running that specific program
  • It may be shared with emergency responders, medical providers, or your listed emergency contact if we believe your health or safety requires it
  • It is retained only as described in Section 11, and separately from our general mailing list

If you'd prefer to discuss a medical consideration directly rather than write it on a form, contact us, and we'll find a way to handle it that works for you.

8. Photos, video, and media release

We take photos and video at our in-person programs: workshops, trainings, retreats, camps, and events. We use these images and recordings to show what Wildkind programs are actually like: on wildkindoutdoors.com, in our online courses and membership content, on our social media accounts, in our emails, and in other promotional and educational materials.

How you give permission

When you register for an in-person program, you sign a Release of Liability and Assumption of Risk Agreement that includes a media release. By signing it, you give Wildkind permission to photograph and record you during the program and to use those images and recordings in the ways described above, without payment to you. The wording of the release you sign is what governs; this section explains how we handle the images in practice.

If you would rather not be photographed or filmed, tell us before the program begins or let an instructor know on the day, and we will do our best to keep you out of the frame. Choosing not to appear in photos or video does not affect your participation in the program.

What we won't do

  • We will not sell your image or license it to third parties for their own marketing
  • We will not attach your full name to a photo or video without asking you first
  • We will not publish images that show health information, participant forms, or anything else you shared with us in confidence
  • We will not use images from a program in a way that implies you endorse a product, service, or position

Asking us to take something down

If you appear in a photo or video we've published and want it removed, contact us using Section 17. We will remove it from wildkindoutdoors.com, our social media accounts, and our email templates within 14 business days. We can't recall material that has already been printed, shared by others, or published before your request, and we may keep a copy in our own records.

Other people's cameras

Other participants may take their own photos at programs. This policy covers only photography and recording done by or for Wildkind Outdoors.

9. Children's privacy

Wildkind Outdoors programs are for adults, and this website is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.

If we learn that a child under 18 has given us personal information through this website, we will delete it. A parent or guardian who believes their child has provided us information can contact us using the details in Section 17.

10. Affiliate links

Some links on our Gear page are affiliate links. If you follow one and buy something, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. We recommend gear we'd use ourselves; the commission doesn't change what we recommend.

When you click an affiliate link, the retailer may set a cookie in your browser to track that the visit came from us. That cookie belongs to the retailer, not to Wildkind, and what happens on their site is governed by their privacy policy, not this one. We receive only aggregate reporting about clicks and commissions — not information about what else you browsed or bought.

11. How long we keep information

  • Email subscribers: until you unsubscribe, and for a short period afterward so we don't accidentally re-add you
  • Customer and purchase records: as long as needed to provide access to what you bought, and afterward as required for tax and accounting purposes
  • Program registration and transaction records: seven years after the program or transaction, particularly because some information may need to be retained for tax, accounting, insurance, or legal purposes.
  • Liability waivers/releases: seven years after the program ends.
  • Health/medical information: as long as necessary for safety and insurance purposes.
  • Photos and video: indefinitely, unless you ask us to remove an image as described in Section 8. Published images stay up until they are replaced or removed; unpublished images are kept in our archive.
  • Analytics data: Google Analytics retains event-level data for 2 months and user-level data for 14 months, after which it is automatically deleted. Aggregated reporting data is not affected by these retention periods and is retained by Google indefinitely.

You can ask us to delete your information sooner. See Section 13.

12. How we protect information

Our website uses HTTPS encryption. Our platform and payment processor maintain their own security programs, and card data is handled entirely by the processor.

Access to customer and participant records is limited to people who need it to do their work. Today that is Wildkind's owner and a small number of contractors: our web designer, our bookkeeper, and our marketing consultant. Contractors cannot log in on their own: each login requires a one-time code issued by the owner, and access is limited to what the work requires.

Signed paper waivers and health forms are kept in a secure, locked location separate from our online records.

If a breach ever affects your information, we will notify you as required by law.

13. Your choices

Email. Every marketing email we send has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. You can also email us, and we'll remove you. We may still send transactional messages about a purchase or a program you've registered for.

Photos and video. You can decline to be photographed or filmed, and you can ask us to take down an image you appear in. See Section 8.

Access, correction, and deletion. You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Contact us using Section 17. We may need to verify your identity first, and we may need to keep certain records where the law requires it.

Cookies and analytics. See Section 4.

We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.

14. California privacy rights

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the CPRA, gives you specific rights over your personal information.

What we collect about you

In the past 12 months, we have collected the categories of information described in Section 2. In CCPA terms, these fall under identifiers, customer records information, commercial information, internet activity information, audio and visual information (photos and video from in-person programs), and — for in-person program participants — sensitive personal information in the form of health information.

We collect this from you directly, from your interaction with our website, and from photography at our programs, and we use it for the purposes listed in Section 5. We disclose it to the service providers and contractors listed in Section 6.

Sale and sharing

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We have not done so in the past 12 months.

Sensitive personal information

We use the health information described in Section 7 only for participant safety — a purpose for which the CCPA does not require a separate limitation right. We do not use it to infer characteristics about you.

Your rights

  • To know what personal information we've collected about you, where we got it, why we have it, and who we've disclosed it to
  • To delete the personal information we hold about you, subject to legal exceptions
  • To correct inaccurate personal information
  • To opt out of sale or sharing — though as stated, we do neither
  • To non-discrimination for exercising any of these rights

To make a request, contact us using Section 17. We will verify your identity before responding and will respond within the timeframe the law requires. An authorized agent may request on your behalf with proof of authorization.

15. Links to other sites

This site links to gear retailers, partner organizations, and other resources. Once you follow a link away from wildkindoutdoors.com, this policy no longer applies. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their privacy practices — it's worth reading their policies before giving them your information.

16. Changes to this policy

We'll update this policy when our practices change. When we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date at the top. If a change materially affects how we handle information we already hold about you, we'll tell you directly — by email where we have your address — rather than expecting you to notice a new date.
